The Journal of Space Safety Engineering (JSSE) is a quarterly publication of the International Association for the Advancement of Space Safety (IAASS) and the International Space Safety Foundation (ISSF). JSSE is a hybrid journal which means authors are offered a choice in publishing their research either via the traditional subscription method or via one of the open access options offered. Regardless of how the author chooses to publish their article, the journal will apply the same peer review criteria and acceptance standards.

The journal has a distinguished Editorial Board with extensive qualifications, ensuring that the journal maintains high scientific and technical standards and has a broad international coverage. The editorial board includes leaders from around the world, representing national space industry, private sector space companies, and university research organizations.

JSSE provides an authoritative source for space safety design, research, development and operations. It serves applied scientists, engineers, program managers, policy makers, and safety advocates. JSSE promotes communication between industry, academy and government in the field of space safety. Articles in the JSSE also address articles related to environmental issues, specifically micrometeroid and orbital debris, radiation, and other space hazards.

The quarterly journal was first published in June, 2014. The JSSE is now published by Elsevier and included in ScienceDirect, the world’s largest repository of online content.
